Civil rights organizations Free Speech for People and Mi Familia Vota Education Fund are urging secretaries of state and election officials across the country to bar former President Donald Trump from appearing on their 2024 ballots, citing Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution.
The group claims on its website, former President Trump is ineligible to run for office for “his role in inciting, encouraging, and supporting the January 6th insurrection.”
According to the Hill, the organizations are beginning a week of rallies outside the secretary of state offices in California, Oregon, Colorado, and Georgia.
