Former Tennessee Democratic lawmaker Roy Herron has passed away after sustaining injuries in a jet ski accident on July 1, as confirmed by his family.
Roy Herron, 69, served as a state Senator in Tennessee for 26 years and held the position of chairman for the Tennessee Democratic Party. He tragically succumbed to his injuries on Sunday following a collision between two jet skis on Kentucky Lake, as reported by WKRN News.
The accident left Herron with severe injuries to his arm and pelvis, along with internal bleeding, according to the Associated Press (AP). After the collision, Herron was initially taken to Henry County Medical Center and later transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he ultimately passed away.
