Iowa Judge Blocks State’s Six-Week Abortion Ban Signed Into Law Just Last Week

An Iowa judge on Monday blocked the state’s six-week abortion ban that GOP Gov. Kim Reynolds signed into law last week.
The law prohibits abortion at the point of detection of a fetal heartbeat, which typically occurs at about six weeks.
Judge Joseph Seidlin reportedly ordered a stay, which will restore the state’s previous 20-week threshold as the legal challenge progresses through the courts.
