Trump KO’d In Court

A federal judge Wednesday denied former President Donald Trump’s request for a new civil trial in the case brought by writer E. Jean Carroll after a jury found Trump liable for battery and defamation.
U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan, a Clinton appointee, wrote in a 59-page decision that jurors during the trial in May did not reach a “seriously erroneous result” and that the decision was not a “miscarriage of justice,” according to Reuters.Trump sought a new trial last month, arguing that the damages awarded to Carroll were “grossly excessive” after she was awarded $3 million for defamation and $2 million for sexual abuse, not rape.
