The prospect of mass layoffs of federal employees doesn’t strike most Americans as helpful for the economy.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that only 29% of American Adults think it would be good for the economy if the federal government laid off 100,000 workers.
Forty-eight percent (48%) say a layoff like that would be bad for the economy.
Ten percent (10%) say it would have no impact, and 13% more are not sure.
These findings haven’t changed much since we asked the same question in 2011.
