Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) made a passionate call for a nationwide prohibition on gender transition surgeries for minors, characterizing the procedures as “barbaric … mutilation of children.”
His remarks were delivered during the opening statement of a House Judiciary subcommittee hearing titled “Dangers and Due Process Violations of ‘Gender-Affirming Care’ for Children.”
In his role as the subcommittee chairman, Johnson emphasized the gravity of the issue, stressing the need to safeguard children from potential harm and abuse. He firmly asserted that not even parents should possess the right to subject young children to sexual transitioning.
