On August 24, 2023, the U.S. Department of Defense declared its involvement in the global initiative to provide training and equipment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces through F-16 Fighting Falcon jet fighters.
Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder stated during a press briefing that the training offered by the United States will complement the ongoing F-16 pilot and maintenance training in Europe.
This initiative strengthens the United States’ commitment to the F-16 training coalition led by Denmark and the Netherlands. Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder emphasized the intention to maintain close coordination with these allies and others to ensure that U.S. training aligns with the broader coalition’s training endeavors going forward.
