Live Worm Removed From Woman’s Brain During Surgery

A neurosurgeon reported on Tuesday that a 64-year-old Australian woman afflicted by a perplexing ailment had a parasitic worm found wriggling within her brain.
During a biopsy conducted at Canberra Hospital in June 2022, Surgeon Hari Priya Bandi came across a 3-inch worm residing inside the patient’s skull. Using forceps, Bandi successfully extracted the parasite.
Describing the discovery, Bandi conveyed to the Canberra Times newspaper, “I just thought: ‘What is that? It doesn’t make any sense. But it’s alive and moving.’ It continued to move with vigor. We all felt a bit sick.”
