Ted Cruz Accuses DOJ Of ‘Aggressively Targeting’ Pro-Life Activists

Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz is accusing the Department of Justice of singling out pro-life activists for intense scrutiny while not adequately investigating the series of assaults on pro-life pregnancy centers across the nation.
In a statement, Cruz expressed his concerns about the perceived bias in the Justice Department’s actions. He pointed out that on Tuesday, a jury in Washington, D.C., found five pro-life activists (Lauren Handy, Herb Geraghty, Heather Idoni, William Goodman, and John Hinshaw) guilty of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. These activists had attempted to prevent abortions by obstructing women’s access to a D.C. abortion clinic in 2020.
Notably, Handy and Geraghty are associated with the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU). Cruz’s comments highlight the debate surrounding the enforcement of laws related to abortion protests and activism.
