Elon Musk, the proprietor of the platform now known as X, has rescinded a prohibition on political advertisements that was initially instituted by Twitter to counteract the spread of misinformation. This policy shift, allowing the resurgence of potentially misleading political content, transpired on Tuesday.
This change in stance occurred less than a week after former President Donald Trump made his inaugural post on the platform, marking his return since January 2021.
The post featured Trump’s police mugshot taken after his arrest in Georgia, signifying his reentry onto the platform that served as his favored communication channel during his tenure in the White House.
