On Tuesday San Francisco supervisors approved $1.7 million to build two public toilets. The toilets are expected to take two years to complete.
In 2022, California granted $1.7 million in state funds to build a standard single public bathroom using the rate given by the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
After public outrage over the cost, two men offered to donate a public toilet and do all of the construction work. After that offer was accepted, the city went ahead with the original plan to spend $1.7 million to build a second toilet.
