The announcement about Shell’s departure was made Sunday by Comcast on BusinessWire.com, which posts paid content.
“I had an inappropriate relationship with a woman in the company, which I deeply regret,” Shell, who is married, said in the post. “I’m truly sorry I let my Comcast and NBC Universal colleagues down.”
Comcast said the corporation and Shell “mutually agreed” that he should leave but that his departure was “effective immediately.”
