Georgetown University’s Women’s Basketball Coach Dead At 41

Georgetown University’s women’s head basketball coach Tasha Butts died Monday from breast cancer.
Butts was 41. She was diagnosed with advanced stage metastatic breast cancer in November 2021.
She came to Washington, D.C., in April to be the head coach of the Hoyas after assistant coach positions at Georgia Tech, Louisiana State University, UCLA and Duquesne.
“Tasha’s passing is a devastating loss,” said Georgetown President John J. DeGioia.
Butts stepped away from the program for treatment in September, with the season now about to begin.
