Scientists Uncover ‘Origin Story’ Behind How Great Sphinx Was Built 4,500 Years Ago

Scientists claim they’ve solved the ‘origin story’ of Egypt’s Great Sphinx in Giza.
Historians agree that the face of the sculpture was carved by ancient stonemasons, but experts have theorized since the 1980s that desert winds formed the overall contours of the sphinx.
A new study by New York University tested that theory by creating miniature, lion-like sculptures from clay using fluid dynamic. They found that it’s possible that the natural shape of the rock may have inspired Egyptians to create the sphinx.
