The Department of Defense (DOD) is considering allocating approximately $270 million in taxpayer funds to advance the diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) agenda from fiscal years 2022 to 2024.
The DOD’s investment in DEIA has progressively increased, rising from $68 million in fiscal year 2022 to $86.5 million in fiscal year 2023. The proposed funding has further expanded, reaching $114.7 million in the department’s preliminary request for fiscal year 2024.
If approved, the DOD’s total expenditure on diversity initiatives for fiscal years 2022, 2023, and 2024 would amount to $269.2 million, averaging $89.7 million annually.
