The mother of imprisoned, former police Officer Derek Chauvin says she learned about her son being stabbed this weekend through the news media and was not contacted by officials on his condition.
Chauvin was sent to prison in 2022, after being convicted of murdering George Floyd during his arrest in May 2020 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“How the hell do these news agencies know and his own mother doesn’t even know? And that [prison] has an emergency contact number [for me],” Chauvin’s mother, Carolyn Pawlenty, told a news outlet.
