California College Kids Who Couldn’t Afford Housing, Lived In Vehicles Kicked Off Campus

Roughly 17 students living in their vehicles in a parking lot at Cal Poly Humboldt because they couldn’t afford housing are being forced to leave.
Earlier this month, they started getting notices and fines for parking in the lot – in violation of school policy on on-campus, overnight camping.
The vehicle owners had reportedly paid the $315 vehicle registration fee.
The action, which university officials say is necessary for health and safety reasons, show how some low-income California State University students struggle to meet their basic needs amid the state’s student affordable housing crisis.
