President Biden is spending the holiday weekend on the Massachusetts Island of Nantucket where he did some Christmas shopping as U.S. and other countries helped broker a deal in which Israel agreed to a five-day ceasefire to allow for the release of hostages in its war with Hamas.
Hamas on Oct. 7 launched a deadly terror strike from Gaza on Israel, taking what is now believed to be about 200 hostages.
On Sunday, Hamas released 17 hostages, include Abigail Edan, a 4-year-old Israeli-American, but about 1o other Americans are still believed to be held hostage.
The fist family, as they have for decades, shopped in tony downtown Nantucket, though the president did hold a press press conference Sunday to confirm that Edan had been safely returned to Israel.
