Former President Donald Trump is criticizing Ohio GOP Gov. Mike DeWine y for vetoing a bill that would have banned gender-affirming care for minors and kept transgender athletes out of women’s sports.
“DeWine has fallen to the Radical Left,” Trump wrote on his TRUTH Social platform on Saturday. “No wonder he gets loudly booed in Ohio every time I introduce him at Rallies, but I won’t be introducing him any more. I’m finished with this ‘stiff.’ What was he thinking? The bill would have stopped child mutilation, and prevented men from playing in women’s sports.”
Trump called on the GOP-led Ohio legislature to override DeWine’s veto.
“Legislature will hopefully overturn. Do it FAST!!!” the former president wrote.
“I’ve also listened to youth and parents. Parents who have told me if not for this treatment, their child would be dead,” DeWine said during a press conference.
DeWine said that he agreed with certain parts of the bill, but could not sign it as it is currently written.
