Tulsi Gabbard Ready To Serve As Trump’s Running Mate If Asked

Former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard said she is ready to “serve my country” as vice president if she is offered the position by former President Donald Trump.

Gabbard, who previously ran as a presidential candidate in 2020 before leaving the Democratic Party in 2022, is rumored to be on Trump’s short list of vice presidential candidates, as Trump is the presumptive presidential nominee for the Republican Party. When asked on Monday about the possibility of being Trump’s vice president, Gabbard said she would be ready for the offer “because I know what is at stake in a deep and visceral way.”

“If that call came, I would say yes, and I’d be honored to serve my country in that way and to be in a position, first, to help win this election, to stop the Democratic elite from destroying our country, and then actually begin the real work of getting our country back on track,” Gabbard said. “And that starts with having people of courage in our government who care more about the country than they do about the political elite in Washington.”

Gabbard also discussed her role ahead of the 2024 election, in which she is focused on talking to as many voters as possible before they cast their ballots this November, specifically voters who are politically homeless. She added that she is hopeful there are “far more people” who love the United States than those who wish to destroy it.

Last week, Gabbard warned voters not to be manipulated by candidates using “fearmongering” ads ahead of the 2024 election and to consider all of the topics that are at stake before casting a vote.

Besides Gabbard, other candidates rumored to be on Trump’s short list for vice president candidates are Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL).
