Chicago Sky Rookie Angel Reese Made WNBA History Yet Again

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has officially made WNBA history, securing her 13th straight double-double against the Seattle Storm on Sunday. Reese passed Candace Parkers’ record of 12 straight, having notched the record with nearly two quarters left to play in Seattle.

The rookie came into the matchup averaging 13.9 points and a league-leading 11.7 rebounds. She’s No. 2 in terms of scoring among rookies, behind Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark at 16.1 points, but her No. 1 ranking in the rebounding category has really helped the first-year star separate herself from the rest of the class.

Chicago stands at No. 3 in the Eastern Conference with an 8-11 record.

Reese has engraved her name in the WNBA history books at just 22 years old.

The rookie had mentioned that there were doubters when she first entered the league, wondering if her game would translate to the WNBA, but she’s clearly proven that she can be a superstar.

The Sky are currently riding a two-game win streak, and they are looking to add another victory to the win column against the Storm on Sunday. The No. 7 pick from the WNBA draft is battling for the league Rookie of the Year award, most notably against Clark, and she’s making a strong case to take the trophy home.
