Following the Hubbard Rural Fire Protection District board elections on May 16, a unique situation arose as a tie occurred for one of the positions. Donald Trump, along with four other individuals, received two write-in votes each, resulting in a deadlock.
In total, there were three positions available on the five-member board. Incumbents Michelle Luna and Michael Willis, the only registered candidates, successfully secured re-election.
To resolve the tie for “Hubbard Fire District Board Director Position No. 3,” a dice roll was conducted on June 23. Interestingly, Donald Trump emerged as the winner of the dice roll. However, due to not residing or owning property in the district, the next step is to determine the interest of the other two candidates who also won the dice roll, as explained by Hubbard Fire Chief Michael Kahrmann in an interview with the Salem Statesman Journal.
