Honda Recalls 200K SUVs Over Fuel Leak Issue

Honda is recalling over 200,000 SUVs in the United States due to a fuel leak concern, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall, which includes 205,760 vehicles, is due to the fuel filler neck tube and fuel filler pipe possibly separating, allowing fuel to leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire, the NHTSA said.

The recall affects certain 2023-24 Passport and 2023-25 Pilot vehicles, according to the NHTSA. Dealers will inspect and repair the fuel filler neck and pipe as necessary, free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Jan. 6, 2025, and owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda’s number for this recall is OKM.

Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.

Another recall issued this week was by General Motors. GM is recalling over 132,000 trucks equipped with power-unlatching tailgates, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Tuesday.

The recall is due to the tailgate’s electronic gate-release switch potentially short circuiting due to water intrusion, which can result in the tailgate inadvertently unlatching while the vehicle is in park, according to the NHTSA recall notice.
