George Tickner, the co-founder and original guitarist of the renowned band Journey, passed away at the age of 76.
Neal Schon, another co-founding member of Journey, took to social media on Thursday to confirm Tickner’s death. In a Facebook post, Schon addressed Journey’s dedicated fans, known as “Journey Junkies,” sharing the sad news and paying tribute to Tickner’s musical contributions.
Schon wrote, “George Tickner, Journey’s original rhythm guitarist and songwriting contributor on their first three albums, has passed away. Godspeed, George… thank you for the music. We will be honoring your memory on this page indefinitely.”
