123123: Vegas Weddings Could Hit Record On New Year’s Eve Thanks To Unique Date

Las Vegas may be in for a record-breaking New Year’s Eve as couples rush to tie the knot on what is known in the wedding industry as a “specialty date.” On December 31, 2023, the date’s repeating 1-2-3 pattern has made it a popular choice for couples looking to make their nuptials extra memorable. This year’s specialty date just so happens to fall on a holiday famous for its celebrations, making it even more appealing.

Melody Willis-Williams, the president of Vegas Weddings, which operates multiple wedding venues, told the Associated Press that “Anytime you get these specialty dates, they’re always hugely popular. But tie that in with New Year’s Eve and it’s a showstopper.”

The record to beat on this year’s New Year’s Eve is 4,492, the single-day record for marriages in Las Vegas set on July 7, 2007, also known as “lucky sevens.” The second-most popular specialty wedding date on record with the county’s marriage bureau is Nov. 11, 2011, when 3,125 couples tied the knot. Las Vegas has always been a popular wedding destination, with plenty of chapels and venues to choose from, and New Year’s Eve has long been a popular choice for those looking to start the year with a memorable celebration.

Reports suggest that as New Year’s Eve falls on a Friday this year, it could lead to even more couples getting married, as they will have a long weekend to celebrate their nuptials. With Las Vegas known for its range of entertainment options, it’s not hard to see why so many couples consistently choose the city as their destination of choice. From the bright lights of the Strip to world-class dining and entertainment options, Las Vegas has something for everyone.

As the city continues to recover from the setbacks of the COVID-19 pandemic, a busy New Year’s Eve could be just what Las Vegas needs. Weddings are a significant part of the city’s tourism industry, and a record-breaking day could help put a smile on the faces of many of its residents and business owners.
