This data illustrates an approximate 35 percent surge in apprehensions in comparison to July and nearly mirrors the figures recorded for August 2022.
Within the nine southwest border sectors, Border Patrol agents encountered a total of over 179,000 migrants throughout August. This figure contrasts with 132,652 apprehensions in July and 99,539 in June. Furthermore, the apprehensions documented in August closely approximate the numbers reported for the same month in the preceding year.
These August apprehensions contribute to year-to-date totals of slightly exceeding 1.82 million migrant apprehensions, signifying a reduction from the approximately 2 million apprehensions during the equivalent timeframe in the previous year.
