Kawasaki Motors USA has recalled 39,000 of their John Deere mowers with Kawasaki engines due to fire and burn hazard. To date, Kawasaki has received five reports of fire and 26 reports of melting and/or smoking.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), about 39,000 John Deere ZTrak Zero Turn Mowers with Kawasaki Engines have been recalled because the voltage regulator inside the mower’s engine can fail while in use or while the product is being stored.
This can cause the engine to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard.
So far, there have been no injuries reported, the company says.
CPSC says the recall involved John Deere ZTrak Zero Turn Mowers with model numbers Z720E, Z730M, Z740R, and Z760R with Kawasaki engines.
Below are the serial number ranges of the recalled mowers.
