81K Migrants Can Now Apply For A Driver’s License In This State

State officials in Minnesota have revealed that individuals residing in the state without legal immigration status can commence the process of obtaining a driver’s license by scheduling an appointment for their written driver’s test. This announcement was made during a news conference held on Thursday.
The state’s new law, referred to as “Driver’s License for All,” is anticipated to make approximately 81,000 people eligible for this privilege. Although eligible individuals can now arrange appointments to initiate their applications, they will only be able to obtain a driver’s license once the law becomes effective on October 1.
Pong Xiong, the Driver and Vehicle Services Director at the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, expressed pride in their state’s initiative, stating during the news conference, “We’re incredibly proud to be a part of a handful of states that offer driver’s license for all. And the first step to getting your driver’s license is to pass that written test.”
