ACLU Sues To Block Texas Drag Show Restrictions

In a new lawsuit filed this week in federal court, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Texas is challenging an impending state law that restricts drag performances, contending that the measure infringes upon the First and 14th Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) signed the legislation in June, imposing restrictions on specific drag performances conducted in public spaces or venues where they might be witnessed by minors.
This law aligns with similar measures enacted in Arkansas, Florida, North Dakota, Montana and Tennessee during this year.
