An “active attacker with [a] knife” is being sought by police on the University of Virginia’s (UVA) campus in Charlottesville Thursday afternoon.
Just before 4:50 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, the UVA Police Division posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, about an “active attacker with [a] knife.”
According to police, the suspect was reported as seen in the area of 100 Emmet St. S, across from the Alumni Hall. That suspect is described as a white male in a red hoodie and blue sweatpants.
UVA is under a shelter-in-place order as of 5:03 p.m., with police reminding those in the area of the phrase “run, hide, fight.” This means you should run if it’s safe to do so, hide if you cannot safely run away and only fight an assailant as a last resort.
No further information is available as of the time of reporting.
