Alaska Airlines announced Sunday the commercial passenger carrier will merge with Hawaiian Airlines after acquiring the company in a $1.9 billion deal.
In both companies making the announcement, they said the merger expands customer benefits and choice on the West Coast and throughout the Hawaiian Islands while maintaining their respective brands.
“We have a longstanding and deep respect for Hawaiian Airlines, for their role as a top employer in Hawai’i, and for how their brand and people carry the warm culture of aloha around the globe,” said Ben Minicucci, Alaska Airlines CEO.
The deal cover $900 million of Hawaiian Airlines net debt.
