Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Opposes Biden’s Plan B For Student Loans After SCOTUS Defeat

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, among the House Democrat Conferences most progressive members, on Sunday opposed President Biden’s plan for interest on student loans to restart during his proposed “on-ramp” period to expectedly try another way to have the loans forgiven.
Ocasio-Cortez said on CNN’s “State of the Union” that she would like to see interest on payments suspended during the 12-month on-ramp period proposed by the Biden administration after the Supreme Court last week struck down the president’s student debt forgiveness, effectively ruling he lacked the constitutional authority to unilaterally cancel the loans.
“People should not be incurring interest during this 12-month on-ramp. Period,” she said. “So, I highly urge the administration to consider suspending those interest payments.
