Amy Schumer’s Life-Changing Diagnosis Revealed

Comedian Amy Schumer disclosed that she has been diagnosed with Cushing’s syndrome, a condition characterized by an excess of cortisol in the body.

In an interview published Friday in the News Not Noise newsletter, Schumer revealed she has exogenous Cushing’s syndrome, which was triggered by receiving steroid injections. The condition can lead to symptoms such as weight gain, fatigue, “moon face,” headaches, and others. Schumer expressed feeling “reborn” after finally receiving a diagnosis.

“During press appearances for my Hulu show, I spent hours in MRI machines, endured lengthy blood draws, and feared I might not witness my son’s growth,” Schumer recounted. “Discovering that I have a type of Cushing’s that will resolve itself and that I am healthy was the best news imaginable. It’s been a tumultuous couple of weeks for me and my family.”

Schumer shared her diagnosis to promote women’s health and body positivity.

“The stigma and scrutiny surrounding our bodies’ changes have been a longstanding issue,” Schumer stated. “I want women to embrace themselves and advocate fiercely for their health in a system that often doubts them.”

Schumer, who had faced criticism for her altered appearance on social media, also urged kindness towards others.
