According to recently released campaign finance disclosures, Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke, the former political candidate, has not fulfilled his pledge to return a significant campaign contribution from Sam Bankman-Fried.
Bankman-Fried, a cryptocurrency figure facing charges of defrauding customers, donated $100,000 to O’Rourke’s unsuccessful gubernatorial campaign.
Back in November, a spokesperson for O’Rourke had claimed that the campaign returned an “unsolicited” $1 million donation from Bankman-Fried shortly before the November 8 election. The latest campaign finance records reveal that O’Rourke has yet to return the $100,000 contribution, raising questions about the fulfillment of his earlier promise.
