President Joe Biden failed to meet the congressional deadline this week for the release of documents mandated by law concerning the origins of COVID-19, despite being the one who signed the legislation requiring their declassification.
This development comes in the wake of recent news reports suggesting that scientists, including one funded by the U.S. government, at the Wuhan Institute of Virology may have been among the earliest individuals to contract COVID-19.
The COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023, which was signed into law, specifically requires the White House to disclose any relevant information related to the origins of the virus and the activities at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where research on novel coronaviruses was conducted using taxpayer funding. However, the deadline for the release of these documents, set for June 18, was not met by the Biden administration.
