Bud Light Loses Spot As Top-Selling Beer In US

Bud Light has lost its position as America’s most popular beer, following widespread boycotts against the brand due to its involvement in controversial political associations, particularly its partnership with a transgender influencer.

Taking its place as the top-selling beer in May is Modelo Especial. While Bud Light’s parent company, Anheuser-Busch InBev, owns Modelo in most international locations, Constellation Brands, based in New York, owns it in the United States.

Data provided by beverage industry consulting firm Bump Williams, as initially reported by the Wall Street Journal, reveals that during the four weeks ending on June 3, Modelo accounted for 8.4 percent of retail-store beer sales in the United States. In comparison, Bud Light’s market share slipped to 7.3 percent.
