House Republicans are preparing to initiate a floor vote on a standalone bill aimed at preventing Democratic-led states like California from implementing proposed electric vehicle (EV) mandates.
The scheduled vote in the House pertains to the “Preserving Choice in Vehicle Purchases Act,” a legislative proposal authored by Rep. John Joyce, R-Pennsylvania, and introduced in March of this year. If this bill is approved, it would effectively prevent the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from granting waivers to states seeking to impose bans or restrictions on internal combustion engine vehicles.
Representative Joyce voiced his perspective on the matter in an interview with Fox News Digital, asserting, “The fundamental reality is that electric vehicles are ill-suited to meet the needs of my constituents.” He pointed out that the combination of rugged terrain, severe winters, and intense summer heat in his constituency renders electric vehicles unreliable and impractical for many residents.
