Sure he’s the leading second place GOP presidential candidate, but the question is still the same for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis: Can he overcome his polling gap and really challenge Donald Trump in 2024.
The Financial Times raises concerns among Republicans that he has what it takes as he files papers this week to run.
It noted that even as Trump’s legal woes grow and DeSantis hits homer after homer on social issues, the gap has grown.
Said the newspaper: “Trump, 76, is the undisputed frontrunner in an increasingly crowded field of Republicans hoping to take on Joe Biden for the White House in 2024. Trump’s standing in the polls has only grown in recent weeks, as Republican grassroots voters have rallied around him despite his mounting legal woes.”
