China Calls Taiwan VP ‘Troublemaker,” Condemns Visit To US

The Chinese Communist Party on Sunday condemned a brief visit to the U.S. by Taiwan Vice President William Lai.
The comment was made by China’s foreign ministry, which said Lai was a separatist and “troublemaker.”
Lai is reportedly the presumptive front-runner to be Taiwan’s next president, in elections in January.
He made a brief stop Saturday in New York, en route to Paraguay for the country’s presidential inauguration.
He is expected to make a speech at a reception in New York and a stopover Wednesday in San Francisco on his return to Taipei.
