Congressional Negotiators Agree On Spending Bill To Fund Gov Through Year, Avoid Shutdown

Congressional negotiators on Sunday present a bipartisan spending package including over $450 billion in funding for fiscal 2024.

Capitol Hill lawmakers passed a measure Thursday to keep the government for partially shutting down Friday and to give them until this Friday to pass a spending bill – and avert a delayed shutdown.

The package sets aside nearly $100 billion for the departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development .

The proposed bill also includes increases for the Federal Aviation Administration and over $32 billion for tenant-based Section 8 vouchers, about $2.1 billion more than in previous fiscal year funding.

The Republican-led House and Democratic-led Senate entered negotiations this year with vastly different bills and spending priorities.
