Court Bans Former Brazilian President From Running For Office For 8 Years!

The highest electoral court in Brazil has decided to bar former President Jair Bolsonaro from holding public office for a period of eight years.

This decision comes after a finding that Bolsonaro misused his authority during his presidency. The court’s ruling was supported by four out of its seven members who concluded that Bolsonaro, who governed Brazil for four years before being defeated in the 2022 election, utilized government communication channels to campaign and spread uncertainty regarding the legitimacy of the election results.

While one member dissented from the majority decision, two others were yet to cast their votes as of early Friday afternoon.
