DC Hits 200 Homicides For The Year

A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday as a student was fatally shot in close proximity to his high school, as reported by law enforcement officials. This student’s untimely death has now brought the total number of homicides in the District of Columbia to 200 for the year, according to police data.
The statistics provided by law enforcement indicate a 28% increase in homicides since 2022 within the nation’s capital. Notably, the city has consistently recorded more than 200 homicides annually since 2021.
During a press conference held on Tuesday, Chief Pamela Smith of the Metropolitan Police Department described the shooting as “senseless.”
