Del Taco Abruptly Closes Nearly All Colorado Restaurants

Del Taco suddenly closed almost all of its restaurants in Colorado on Thursday.

A spokesperson for the fast food chain told Westword that 18 out of 19 locations are “temporarily closed” and will reopen “as soon as possible.”

The spokesperson did not provide details on why the locations were closed. Newsweek has contacted Del Taco for comment via email.

It comes as several major retailers and restaurant chains have been forced to cut costs and close underperforming stores across the U.S. including Denny’s, Best Buy, Kohl’s and JCPenney.

Some retailers have struggled to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic as the rise of e-commerce has led to declining foot traffic for traditional brick-and-mortar stores.

Many Americans are also shopping and eating out less and consumer confidence has fallen amid persistent inflation and high prices.
