Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis did not meet with President Biden on Saturday when he surveyed the damage in the governor’s state from Hurricane Idalia.
White House officials said they were surprised by DeSantis’ decision not to meet with Biden, considerin they had agreed earlier to meet at a designated spot.
A DeSantis spokesman said the meeting was not a good idea because “security preparations alone that would go into setting up such a meeting would shut down ongoing recovery efforts.”
