Detained Wall Street Journal Reporter Marks 100 Days In Russian Prison

Evan Gershkovich, a Wall Street Journal reporter, has reached his 100th day in a Russian jail where he is being held on false espionage accusations. The newspaper’s editor-in-chief, Emma Tucker, provided an update on Gershkovich’s well-being, stating that he is “in relatively good spirits.”

Tucker expressed her outrage at the unjust allegations, affirming that Gershkovich is not a spy but a dedicated journalist. She emphasized that he was carrying out his duties as a reporter, accredited by the Russian government to fulfill his professional responsibilities.

Gershkovich was arrested on March 29 during a reporting trip in Yekaterinburg, making him the first American journalist to be detained by Moscow on spying charges since the Cold War. The case has raised concerns about press freedom and the treatment of journalists in Russia.
