DOJ Charges Man In Alleged $148 Million Urine Drug Test Scam

The Department of Justice (DOJ) charged Brad Paul Schaeffer on Thursday for allegedly defrauding Medicare and Medicaid for over $148 million in urine drug tests, according to a press release.
The DOJ charged the 48-year-old Louisianan suspect with “one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud, five counts of health care fraud and three counts of engaging in unlawful monetary transactions,” the DOJ press release noted.
Schaeffer was the chief executive officer and co-owner of a diagnostic laboratory company called MedComp Sciences LLC, according to the DOJ.
