Legal and ethics “experts” cited in recent articles that targeted conservative justices on the Supreme Court for alleged ethics violations have been found to have close ties to prominent Democrats, including President Biden and former President Bill Clinton. However, these connections were not disclosed in the aforementioned stories.
One example is the ProPublica article titled “Justice Samuel Alito Took Luxury Fishing Vacation With GOP Billionaire Who Later Had Cases Before the Court,” published on Tuesday. The article quoted an individual named Kathleen Clark, referred to as an “ethics law expert at Washington University in St. Louis,” in a section related to disclosure issues.
Notably, ProPublica failed to disclose that Kathleen Clark, who has provided quotes for previous ProPublica articles, had previously worked as a counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee during Senator Biden’s tenure as chairman. This information was obtained from Clark’s resume, available on the website of Washington University in St. Louis’ School of Law.
