Vice President Kamala Harris was introduced to a North Carolina crowd with the wrong anthem Friday.
Harris was at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University when “Hail to the Chief” began playing. This is known as the presidential anthem, reserved for the presence of the commander in chief, hence the title. Typically, “Hail Columbia” is the anthem played for the vice president.
It is unclear if this was a mistake made on the part of the White House staff or university staff. The song cut out abruptly before it could finish, which was about 16 seconds.
