Former Trump Official’s Car Stolen, Used In DC Homicide

On December 11, 2022, a former Trump administration official, who was under the protection of the State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service due to threats from Iran, experienced the theft of two personal vehicles from the driveway of his home in northern Virginia.

Brian Hook, previously serving as the State Department’s special representative for Iran, was present in his residence when the thefts occurred. Three weeks later, on January 3, one of the stolen vehicles was involved in a shooting during rush hour in the Brightwood area of northern Washington, D.C.

The shooting resulted in injuries to two adults and an 8-year-old child, while one adult male was killed. The connection between the car theft and the subsequent shooting has not been previously disclosed.
