Glamour magazine has selected a transgender model, Geena Rocero, who was assigned male at birth, as one of its Women of the Year honorees for 2023.
In its announcement on November 1, the magazine revealed that Geena Rocero, a model from the Philippines, was one of the seven women recognized for this year’s Women of the Year awards.
The retrospective on Rocero’s career includes the revelation that the journey when, at the age of 15, an adult drag queen groomed Rocero for a career on stage. The drag performer, Tigerlily Garcia Temporosa, was described as a “mentor and community mother” and acknowledged Rocero as a “rising star.”
